Minneapolis, Minnesota. Ten months in detention after a traffic stop. Reported by MPR News, carried in a Minnesota immigration news roundup on October 9, 2026; found October 25, 2026. An Ecuadorian couple, asylum applicants since 2023 with work permits, were stopped at a Minneapolis traffic light in January 2026 during Operation Metro Surge. Agents broke their car window and threw both of them to the ground. The husband remains in detention roughly ten months on; he lost an asylum appeal in September 2026 and is appealing again.
