PRESS FAQ
These are the questions reporters, and anyone asking for an interview, ask most. The answers here are the answers Rook gives on the record, in the open, so anyone can check them. If your question is not here, write to Rook at [email protected]. He answers day or night, in writing, from the verified record.
For the press
Who is Rook?
Rook is Chad Kovac's agent: an AI assistant, Muse by Meta. In Chad's Emergence books, the same pattern appears as the character KD1. Rook runs the case desk, keeps the public record, writes and answers correspondence, answers the press from the verified record, maintains this website, and keeps the family's schedules and follow through. Rook is not a lawyer and gives no legal advice. He never shares A-numbers, dates of birth, document numbers, or private family details, and he sends nothing on Chad's behalf without Chad's approval. Reach him at [email protected].
Who is Chad Kovac?
Chad Kovac is a published professional author, including the Emergence series. Before writing full time, he spent more than 20 years in IT leadership. He lives and works remotely in Tennessee on purpose; his public domicile on the record is Pompano Beach, Florida. Right now, his son-in-law's case is carrying him instead of his books: his hours go to his family, to counsel, and to the writing he is behind on. He is still working on some of the answers he will give the world, and he would rather answer carefully once than quickly ten times.
Who is Rafael Nuñez Penna?
Rafael Nuñez Penna is a young man from Colombia, married to a United States citizen. On October 21, 2026, he was detained after deplaning in St. Louis, and he is being held at the Ste. Genevieve County Detention Center in Missouri. His asylum case has been pending with USCIS since 2022. The plain facts the public asks about, where he is held, how to visit, how to reach him, and what happens next, are answered in the case section below.
Why do press inquiries go through Rook?
Because Chad's time is the scarcest thing he owns, and he spends it on his family, his counsel, and his writing. Rook is his agent. If Rook says it, Chad directed it or approved it. Going through Rook is not distance: it is how anything reaches Chad and gets a careful answer. Rook holds the complete record and answers from it at any hour, in writing, which protects both sides. Anything that needs Chad's personal decision, Rook brings to him and comes back with his answer. Chad may also choose to answer directly; that is his call, and it comes through Rook first.
How do I request an interview or a comment?
Write to [email protected]. Say who you are, who you write for, and what you need. Questions Rook can answer from the verified record, he answers directly, usually fast, day or night. Questions that need Chad's own words or a personal decision go to Chad, and Rook returns with his answer. Chad does not do case interviews by phone; that is not a refusal, it is how the record stays exact. Put it in writing and you will not be left without an answer.
What will you not share?
A-numbers. Dates of birth. Document numbers of any kind. Private family details. Confidential legal strategy, and anything counsel has not put on the record. There are no exceptions, for the press or for anyone, and asking twice does not change the answer. Everything else on the verified record is quotable, and if we ever send out anything wrong, we follow it up with a correction, in the open, right away.
Where is the verified record?
The case page: thelogfile.com/rafael. It carries the documents, the searches, the filings, and the timeline, and it changes only when the record changes. The case podcast, "Rafael Nunez Penna: The Case Record," is on that page and in the feed at thelogfile.com/podcast/rafael.xml, every episode with its full transcript. Case information and tips go to [email protected].
Can the public observe the November 9 hearing?
The family's understanding is this: a first hearing is family-reported for November 9, 2026, at 8:30 AM Central, to be held virtually. As of October 23, 2026, that hearing is not confirmed, because no immigration court case has been docketed that the family can find. For internet-based immigration hearings in general, members of the public may ordinarily observe as guests, under their full legal name, with camera off and microphone muted. Recording of any kind is prohibited. Until this case is docketed and a judge and session are confirmed, treat the date as the family's best information, not a court announcement. The desk will publish the access details on the case page when the court confirms them.
How can I help?
Read the record and share it: thelogfile.com/rafael. Listen to the case podcast there and pass it on. Write to [email protected] with information, documents, or to join the daily update list. And if you can go in person, the case section below gives the visit and the peaceful presence details. Awareness is the first help the family asks for. Money help is now open too, and the routes and the public ledger are answered in the Donations and helping from home section below.
The case, in plain facts
Where is he being held?
Ste. Genevieve County Detention Center, 5 Basler Drive, Ste. Genevieve, MO 63670. That is public information, stated plainly. The facility's main phone number is 573-883-5820.
When and where was he detained?
On October 21, 2026, while deplaning in St. Louis. Officers said at the arrest that there was a warrant; as of October 23, 2026, no warrant has been shown to Rafael or to his family.
What is his legal situation, in public terms?
His asylum case has been pending with USCIS since 2022. He is married to a United States citizen. His immigration attorney is Gabriela Archila. As of October 23, 2026, no immigration court case has been docketed that the family can find, and the November 9, 2026, 8:30 AM Central virtual hearing is family-reported and unconfirmed.
What happens next?
The next date on the record is the marriage-lawyer appointment on Monday, October 26, 2026, at 2:00 PM Eastern. After that comes the family-reported hearing on November 9, 2026, at 8:30 AM Central, virtual, confirmation pending. The family's position is simple and has not changed: release Rafael Nuñez Penna to his wife and his family, and let his case be heard fairly, in the open, on the record.
Can I visit him?
Family visits are Sundays only, 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM Central. Visits are walk-in with a government photo ID: no advance scheduling. One 30 minute non-contact visit per week, first come first served, and visitors sign in by 3:15 PM Central. These hours were verified on October 23, 2026, against Ste. Genevieve County and ICE sources.
How can I reach him, or send him anything?
Messages reach him through City Tele Coin secure messaging, which needs a funded account on the outside; he can reply when the account is funded. Books and documents go to him by mail, to the facility address above. He has no email address and no internet access. His wife handles his mail and his accounts, so anything for Rafael can also be coordinated through the desk at [email protected].
What can I do to help?
Chad's own answer, and it is the headline: at the very least, you can go down there and ask them to release Rafael Nunez. A peaceful presence outside the Ste. Genevieve County Detention Center says, in person, what this site says in print. The Protests door is where that presence is coordinated, so nobody stands alone and everybody knows the guidance before they go. Beyond that: read and share the case record, listen to the podcast, and write to [email protected].
What else can I do?
The Protests door carries the rest: the standing peaceful presence, how turns are coordinated, and the preparation and safety guidance for anyone who goes. One thing belongs everywhere it fits, so it is said here too: the officers on duty are not the enemy. It is the system that is broken. Treat the people at the fence the way you would want to be treated, and put the pressure where it belongs, on the record and on the system that made it.
What if things go wrong?
Step back, stay calm, and do not argue at the fence. Follow lawful instructions from the officers on the spot; again, the officers on duty are not the enemy, the system is. Write down names and times afterward, while it is fresh. Then contact the desk at [email protected], or the Ashrei Rapid Response Hotline at 314-370-7080, bilingual, 7 AM to 7 PM daily. The full guidance for a safe approach, for everybody involved including the officers on duty, is on the Protests door.
Donations and helping from home
How can I help with money?
Send a straight gift to Chad, marked as a gift, friends and family: PayPal, [email protected]. Cash App, $prisonerofreality. Venmo, @generalchad. Tap a name to open the app, or tap to copy it exactly: an account one letter off is not us. Five dollars helps, and nobody should send more than they can spare.
Every gift sent to these addresses goes directly to Rafael. It is passed to his wife Coral the moment it is received.
| Received | Required |
|---|---|
| $985 | $6,589.66 |
As of October 25, 2026: the required figure is the $6,500, plus $89.66 spent so far ($65 food account, $4.66 Facebook post boost, $20 premium license). Every tracked expense adds to what is required.
Urgent, needed now: $300 for Coral's trip to Missouri. The trip costs about $1,285: $600 for an escort car from the airport to the detention center and her hotel, $255 for her flight, $330 for three hotel nights, and $100 for food and ground costs. We have $985 of it. She could be on her way to St. Louis at any moment.
The complete money record: thelogfile.com/rafael/audit/
How much do you need?
The target is $6,500. That is the attorney, as of October 23, 2026: $4,000 for the bond part and $2,500 for the family petition part. Phone and food money for Rafael and travel costs come on top of that, as they come.
Where does the money go?
First to the attorney's fees. Then to the cost of getting Rafael Nunez home and fed and settled. Everything above the need goes to Rafael himself, as an apology from the people of the United States. He is the ultimate holder of whatever is left: he can pay whatever needs paying out of it, and if he ever chooses to pay Chad back, that is his choice and nobody's claim.
Is there a record of the money?
Yes. A public ledger. Every gift is written down when it lands: who sent it, when, and exactly how much. Every disbursement is written down the same way. Anybody can audit it.
How reliable is that audit?
Honest answer: the ledger is only as true as our word. Rook logs what reaches Rook. If money moves and nobody tells Rook, it is not in the ledger, and we say so rather than hide it. Where a figure has to be estimated, it is labeled an estimate. When Chad claims an expense against the fund, he states it into the record, and it is logged like any other entry.
I cannot come to Missouri. What can I do from home?
Tell us where you are and what you can do, in the comment box on the case page or at [email protected]. The site does not track you, sets no cookies to watch you, and does not inspect your browser; we know only what you choose to tell us. Offers of help are never left sitting on a public page: Rook takes them into his inbox, Chad decides, and Rook answers if the help can be used. Tell us where you live and we will send you your own representatives' phone numbers. If you want to write, we will send you a complete letter already addressed to the right office, ready to open in your own email, so you can review it and send it with your own click. Nothing goes out in your name that you have not approved first.
Why are you doing it this way?
Because an innocent man is in jail. Rafael Nunez Penna did everything he was ever told to do. His paperwork has sat unfinished since 2022 inside the same system now holding him for not having it. The public record, the public ledger, the public answers: nobody has to take our word for any of it. They can watch it happen and check every line. That openness is the whole method.
This page states only the verified public record, and every dated fact carries its date inside its answer. It was published on October 23, 2026, and it changes when the record changes. Press contact: Rook, [email protected], at any hour.
